कुनै पनि घर बनाउनुपूर्व जग्गा र माटोको परीक्षणपछि नै घरको डिजाइन कस्तो बनाउने भन्ने हुन्छ । खासगरी घरको डिजाइन दुई किसिमको हुन्छ । एक आर्किटेक्चरल र अर्काे स्ट्रक्चरल डिजाइन । आर्किटेक्चरल डिजाइनमा घरको बनोट, कोठा, भान्साकोठा, बाथरुमको ढाँचा, झ्याल–ढोका कस्तो राख्ने र कहाँ राख्ने आदि कुरा पर्छन् । त्यस्तै जग कति फिटको हाल्ने, पिल्लर कत्तिको मोटाइको हाल्ने, गाह्रो कसरी लगाउने, कस्तो रिङ प्रयोग गर्ने, रडको मोटाइ कति राख्ने, बालुवा र सिमेन्ट कस्तो प्रयोग गर्नेजस्ता कुरालाई स्ट्रक्चरल डिजाइन भनिन्छ । आवासीय घरमा १२/१२ इन्चको पिल्लर राख्ने हो भने जम्मा तीन तलासम्मको घर बनाउनुपर्छ । १२/१२ को पिल्लरमा ५/६ तल्लासम्मको घर बनाउँदा जोखिम वृद्धि हुन्छ । कंक्रिटको घर निर्माण गर्दा ध्यान दिनुपर्ने अर्को महत्वपूर्ण कुरा भुइँतल्ला खुला गरेर माथिल्लो तल्लामा मात्र ठूलो गाह्रो लगाउनु हो । यसो गर्दा माथिल्लो तलाको भार बढी भै घर धरापमा पर्न सक्छ । त्यसैले घर बनाउँदा सकेसम्म भार कम हुने गरी बनाउनुपर्छ । भुइँतल्लामा पसल, शोरुम, गोदाम, रेस्टुराँ, गाडी पार्किङ अथवा गाडी छिर्ने गरी घरभित्र बनाए...

Advantages of making Melamchi a multipurpose project

Melamchi Water Supply Project is again a hot topic of discussion after the concept of making Melamchi a multipurpose project by adding hydro-electricity and irrigation components in it is made public. If Melamchi could be developed as a multipurpose project, not only the valley denizens but also the people of Sindhupalchok and tarai can get benefits from the project. Earlier, the project was limited to drinking water supply in the Kathmandu valley. The time has come to review the concept, designed 30 years ago to bring 170 million litres of water to the valley daily. If Melamchi is completed in old concept, then the water demand of the valley can be met for a short-term only. Design criteria for permeable pavement

Hydrologic design considerations Permeable pavement is subject to the following design considerations, including benefits and constraints. Available space – A significant advantage of permeable pavement is its ability to combine detention/ infiltration and pavement, thereby reducing or eliminating land required for detention facilities. This is especially important in urban areas with high land prices and highly developed sites with little or no space for stormwater detention. Soils – Soil conditions and infiltration rates determine the use of an  underdrain . ( NRCS   Hydrologic Soil Group  (HSG) C or D soils usually require an underdrain, whereas HSG A and B soils often do not.) Designers should evaluate existing soil properties during initial site layout with the goal of configuring permeable pavement that conserves and protects soils with the highest infiltration rates. Water Treatment Plant

The water treatment plant will treat raw water coming through 26.5 Km tunnel from Melamchi River for the Melamchi water supply project. The ultimate capacity of the water treatment plant will be 510 mld. The plant will be developed in three phases, each of 170 Ml/d. The second stage will be accomplished by duplicating the major facilities of the initial phase, and the third phase will comprise mainly performance enhancements and increased design loading on the facilities constructed under phases 1 and 2. As the first phase of WTP project, the detailed design of the WTP capacity will be done for 170 mld with provision of the future expansion. The design of phase 1 allows for the complete development of the site over the three phases, and some facilities are, therefore, sized for the ultimate capacity.
